Water and sanitary sewer main in public right-of-way can be located by calling the Public Works Department at 972.495.7600 to request a locate. Locates can take up to 2-3 working days to complete. Franchise utilities, including gas, electric, phone and cable are located by a 3rd party company via the 811 service. State law requires notification of the 811 service to request locates before digging. This is for your safety as accidentally hitting an electric power cable or gas main can lead to serious injury or death. Gas, Phone, Cable TV and Electric Power lines can be located by calling 811. The City does not keep records regarding the location of water or sanitary sewer services on private property. Location of water or sanitary sewer services on private property can often be deduced by locating sewer main cleanouts or water control valves on the property.

The city is responsible for sewer main lines and service lateral line repairs up to the customer’s property line. If the back up is on the city lines please call the Public Works Department at 972.495.7600 during normal business hours, on weekends, holiday and from 5pm to 8am call Police Dispatch at 972.495.2271, option 2 and a crew will be dispatched. If the back-up occurs in the City line, the crew will clear the line. If there is a blockage in the customer line, we will notify you.
