Dispose of Holiday Cooking Oil a
Better Way

Liquid oil that gets tossed in trash carts attracts insects and rodents. When the trash gets crushed in the trucks, liquids leak out onto the ground. It doesn’t look good; and, it’s not great for the environment.

It's easy to protect your pipes from damage and protect the environment.
Even a little oil down the drain can cause big problems for your pipes! Simply pour grease into a container once it has cooled. Let it solidify, then cover it and place it in the trash. (Tip: Kitty litter poured into cooled oil helps it solidify faster and better!)

Used cooking oil, fats and grease are considered household hazardous waste and can be safely disposed of at X-treme Green events. Please remember to be very careful handling hot oil.

Team Up to Fight Hunger

Team Up to Fight Hunger

Team Up to Fight Hunger is a collaboration of Sachse, Wylie, Murphy and area community partners to provide food to people and families in need while supporting local restaurants.

Families receive vouchers after completing a screening process with participating area food banks. Families can then take the vouchers to participating local restaurants, who have curated special menus for the families to choose from when ordering their meals. Each voucher is valued at $40 and provides a meal for a family of four. Families can go online at
www.TeamUptoFightHunger.com/vouchers  for the latest update about participating restaurants in the area and to check what each restaurant is serving for its customized meal.
