Election/Voter Information

The City of Sachse operates under a council-manager form of government as approved by voters in 1986 through the adoption of the Home Rule Charter. The City Council Members are elected at-large for three-year terms with term limits noted below.

Terms for City Council expire as follows:

  • Place 1 and 2: May 2024 (Incumbents: Brett Franks and Michelle Howarth)
  • Mayor, Place 5, and Place 6: May 2025 (Incumbents: Mayor Jeff Bickerstaff, Lindsay Buhler, and Matt Prestenberg)
  • Place 3 and 4: May 2026 (Incumbents: Frank Millsap and Chance Lindsey)

Term Limits:

Voters elected to establish term limits during the November 2022 Charter Amendment Election. Commencing with the May 2023 election, no person shall serve as mayor for more than three (3) consecutive elected terms, and no councilmember shall serve more than three (3) consecutive elected terms. No person shall serve as councilmember and mayor (combined) for more than six (6) consecutive terms. 

Any member of council who is ineligible to run for office due to limitations on terms, shall remain ineligible to hold an elected office for two years, with the exception of councilmember seeking the office of mayor or the mayor seeking the office of councilmember.

Candidate Eligibility Requirements:

According to the City of Sachse Charter, Article V. Section 5.02, a City Council candidate must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age at the time of the election.
  • Be a qualified voter.
  • Reside within corporate limits of the city, or annexed territory, for at least twelve (12) months prior to the filing deadline.
  • Shall not be in arrears in payment of taxes or other liabilities due to the City.
  • No candidate may file in a single election for more than one office or position.
  • Candidates must file an application for a place on the ballot by posted deadlines. along with a Campaign Treasurer Appointment form.

How to File

Interested residents may file by the following methods:

  • In person. email the City Secretary or call to make an appointment at 469-429-4773.
  • By mail. An application may be submitted by mail and is considered to be filed at the time of its receipt by the City Secretary.
  • By Fax or Email. A signed, sworn, scanned candidate application may be submitted by fax or email. The application MUST be notarized prior to filing. Candidates may email the City Secretary or fax to 972-530-0426.

Voting Precincts in Sachse

The City of Sachse is located in two counties, Dallas County and Collin County. Within these counties the city is divided into precincts.

The voting precincts in Dallas County are: 3980, 3981, 3982, 3983, and 3984.

The voting precincts in Collin County are: 144, 153, and 170.

Voting Locations in Sachse

Dallas County and Collin County both utilize vote centers allowing residents to vote anywhere in Dallas County or Collin County during an election. The nearest locations for residents are listed below or visit the county website link for additional locations.
