NEIGHBORHOOD E-WATCH MEETINGS

Police Chief Dennis Veach addressed residents from AORs 2 and 5 at the department's second Neighborhood  E-Watch meeting.  He introduced the Area of Responsibility program and the new Neighborhood E-Watch program and fielded questions from the audience.  The department will host meetings in all 12 areas of the city over the next several months.

WHAT IS SACHSE E-WATCH?

Sachse PD E-Watch group is a "cyber" neighborhood watch program.  E-Watch provides Sachse citizens with an easy way to obtain monthly neighborhood crime reports, crime alerts, resident surveys, crime prevention messages, and community service messages.  Many Sachse residents are busy professionals interested in participating in a neighborhood watch program but are too busy to attend meetings.  Sachse Neighborhood E-Watch is the answer.

JUVENILE CURFEW

You need to be aware that the City of Sachse has a juvenile curfew for minors under the age of 17.  Curfew hours are 11 pm to 6 am Sunday thru Thursday; 12:01 am to 6 am Saturday and Sunday.  Minors found to be in violation of the curfew may be issued a citation.  According to Section 12-1 of the Sachse Code, anyone under 17 years old commits an offense if they are "about or upon any public place or in the premises of any establishment within the city during curfew hours."

PARK CURFEW

The City of Sachse does enforce a park curfew.  The parks are closed from 11:30 pm until 6:00 am on weekdays and from 12:00 midnight until 6:00 am on weekends.  No games shall begin before 8:00 am.  The lights at the parks shall be turned off by 11:00 pm Monday thru Thursday and by 12:00 midnight on Friday and Saturday.  The use of the lights is prohibited on Sunday.  This curfew may be reviewed at City Hall or the Library in the City of Sachse Code Book.  The park curfew as stated in Section 7-2 of the Sachse Code "persons shall not be allowed in, on, about or around a public park and/or facility between 11:30 pm to 6 am on weeknights and 12 midnight to 6 am on weekends.  No exceptions shall be allowed without written permission from the Parks and Recreation Commission."

Both the juvenile curfew and park curfew are included in the City of Sachse Code Book, which may be viewed at City Hall or at the library.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 2008

The National Night Out events give police officers an excellent opportunity to visit with citizens in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.  2008 was the most successful event to date.  Unfortunately, 2009 was deterred by the weather.  We will try again in October 2010 and look forward to more neighborhood participation.
