Arbor Day Event Celebrates Sachse as a "Tree City USA"

     


Several people were on hand to celebrate Sachse's new status as a Tree City USA.  Mayor Felix read an Arbor Day proclamation and assisted Micah Pace, Regional Urban Forester with the Texas Forest Service, with a tree planting demonstration.  The Library handed out books and the Parks Department gave a tree and a brochure on planting and caring for trees to everyone who attended the event.
 

JOE AND PATRICIA STONE DEDICATE PARK PAVILION

The Parks and Recreation Commission dedicated the Joe and Patricia Stone Park Pavilion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony during their July 17th meeting.  The Joe and Patricia Stone Park, located on Laurel Crest Drive in Woodbridge, was developed on land donated to the city by Mr. Stone and dedicated in 2003.  The new pavilion with six picnic tables and two barbecue grills, is a wonderful addition to the playground area, walking trail and community pond located in the park.  City staff, Council and Parks and Recreation Commission are very proud of the addition of this structure to the park.  Anyone interested in renting the pavilion may contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 469-429-0275.
