FRIENDS OF THE SACHSE PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Friends of the Sachse Public Library will benefit from Kyle Davidson's Eagle Service Project. Kyle is planning a large book drive on Wednesday, February 3rd from 7:00 to 8:30 pm and on Saturday, February 6th from 9:00 am to noon at the Library. His project includes collecting donations at the Library on these days as well as collecting throughout the Sachse Farms and Woodbridge neighborhoods, and also organizing the donated books within the Library. For more information, please call the Library at 972.530.8966.

Also, the Friends are collecting materials for their book sale in the spring of 2010.  They need everyone's help with donations.  If you have any gently used books, CDs, videos, or books on tape/CD that you would like to donate to the sale, they will be greatly appreciated.  Donations are tax deductible. Just make sure to request a tax deductible donation form.  You may take your donations to the Library's front desk anytime during Library hours, Monday thru Thursday, 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm, Friday, 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm, and Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

WHO ARE THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY:  The Friends of the Library is composed of people who believe in the importance of books, reading, learning and libraries for people of all ages and those who share the common interest of strengthening the development of the Sachse Public Library.  Friends of the Library sponsor programs designed to add to the cultural life of the community, encourage gifts, endowments and memorials for the library, and provide direct financial assistance to the library.

WHY SHOULD YOU BECOME A “FRIEND”:  As a Friend of the Sachse Public Library you will promote the development of the library facilities and services as an educational and cultural asset to the City of Sachse.  You will enhance cooperation among local citizens, library board members and government officials.  When you become a Friend of the Sachse Public Library, you will enjoy the association with others who share an interest in books, libraries and the community.

MEETINGS:  The Friends of the Library meet every fourth Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Library.  Meetings are open to the public.

HOW DO I JOIN THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY:  The Friends organization is incorporated under Texas state law as a non-profit charitable organization, separate from the Sachse city government.  Any individual or business interested in promoting the library is eligible to become a member.  Individual memberships ($5.00) and family memberships ($10.00) are available and collected annually.

I DON’T HAVE TIME TO JOIN.  IS THERE ANOTHER WAY TO SUPPORT THE “FRIENDS”?  Yes.  Bring your gently used books, magazines, videos and CDs and drop them off at the Library.  Library staff will be happy to take your donation and can give you a tax receipt as the donation is tax deductible.  These items are used by the library or sold at the Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale.  Donations are accepted year-round during normal hours of operation.  Friends of the Sachse Public Library proceeds go to the library system to fund equipment, special projects and programs.
