About Wylie ISD
The Wylie Independent School District covers 41 square miles and has more than 12,000 students. It serves the City of Wylie as well as families in the surrounding communities of Sachse, Murphy, Lucas, Lavon and St. Paul. Wylie ISD has 10 elementary schools, 3 junior high schools (grades 7 and 8), 3 intermediate schools (grades 5 and 6), 2 high schools and 1 alternative high school. Wylie ISD offers an outstanding academic program while focusing on character education beginning at the elementary school level. The curriculum includes a wide range of programs from the culinary arts to television production, emphasizing technology in the classroom. The ethnic ratio is very diverse, with 57% Caucasian, 20% Hispanic, 15% African American, 7% Asian and 1% Native American students. The average student to teacher ratio is 14.7 to 1, which includes all classes.
