Garbage &
Recycling
For
residential customers, waste pickup is once a week. Sachse uses the
95-gallon polycart method for waste pickup. If you have an alley, your
trash will be picked up in the alley. Otherwise, you must place your
polycart curbside by 7:00 am of your designated trash day.
Recycling
pickup for residential customers is once a week on either Monday or
Tuesday and picked up at the same location as your polycart.
Bulk
item pickup is once a month, during the second Wednesday week of the month
(the week in which the second Wednesday of the month falls
except in December when bulk pickup is scheduled
after Christmas) and on the same
day as your polycart
trash day. The material that you wish to be collected must be in front
of your home, (bulk trash trucks are too large to drive in our alleys) curbside by 7:00 am
the same day that your polycart is picked up. Sachse has an ordinance
which prohibits residents from placing bulk items out prior to the Monday of
the week of pick up.
Allied Waste will pick
up bulk items not to exceed four cubic yards (about the size of two sofas).
If it is tree trimmings, they must be cut and bundled in four foot
sections. The term "bundle" shall be defined as trees, shrub and brush
trimmings or newspapers and magazines securely tied together forming an
easily handled package, not exceeding four (4) feet in length, six (6)
inches in diameter, or 50 pounds in weight. Total amount of
"bundled material" set out for collection each month (per home) shall
not exceed four (4) cubic yards (12' x 3' x 3').
Hazardous waste materials such as oil, paint, tires and
batteries are not included in bulk pickup. These may be taken to the
Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center (see below for more
details). Items with freon must be
drained of all freon and tagged clear by a licensed air/heating
company.
Furniture, appliances, brush (4' - 5' lengths) and other
large items will be picked up as long as it does not exceed 4 cubic
yards. For additional information on special materials disposal,
please contact Allied Waste at 972.422.2341. For all other questions
regarding waste pickup, call Utility Billing at 972.495.1212, ext. 29 or
30.
Recycle
is picked up on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you do not know your
collection
day, please contact Utility Billing at 972.495.1212, ext. 30 for
information.
Allied Waste has announced that they
WILL pick up plastic containers #1 and #2, glass jars and bottles of any
color, aluminum and tin cans, all junk mail, chipboard (including
cereal/cracker boxes), corrugated cardboard, newsprint, magazines, catalogs,
computer paper and stationary. They CANNOT pick up plastic film or
bags, kitchen or yard waste, bottle caps, plastic motor oil bottles,
batteries of any type, styrofoam or "peanuts" and bubble
wrap.
Some Helpful Hints: Flatten out cardboard boxes and set them UNDER your
recycling bin. If boxes are large (such as moving boxes or appliance
boxes), please cut them into smaller, more manageable sizes. NO CAPS
OR LIDS PLEASE. Caps and lids CANNOT be recycled. If left on
containers they become dangerous due to pressure build-up when the handling
equipment crushes them. They become projectiles and can cause serious
injury.
BULK COLLECTION is the same day as regular trash pick up during the second Wednesday week of
the month.
Please place bulk trash out front curb side, not in the alley. The bulk trash
trucks are too large to drive down our alleys, so BULK PICKUP WILL ALWAYS BE
IN THE FRONT, CURB SIDE. Place your bulk trash out by 7:00 am the same day as
your polycart pickup.
If you have any questions or problems, please call
Allied Waste at 972.422.2341 or City
Hall at 972.495.1212, ext. 29 or 30.
