BICYCLE RODEO
AUGUST 14 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM
Dr. Robert Contreras and the Lake Point Medical Partners-Sachse
Sachse Police Department will participate in a local Bicycle Rodeo
hosted by Dr. Robert Contreras and his staff at Lake Point Medical
Partners-Sachse, on Saturday, August 14th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at 5250
Highway 78, Suite 850 (in the Kroger shopping center) for children ages
3 to 10.
Children are asked to bring their bicycles and a parent with them to
listen in on the safety tips and bicycle laws we enforce in Sachse.
Lake Point Medical Partners-Sachse will offer safety helmets as long as
supplies last, along with information on bike safety and injuries due to
unsafe bicycling.

A HUGE SUCCESS

Mayor Mike Felix addresses the crowd who
gathered at Heritage Park in preparation for the Great American Cleanup
day. Also in attendance as team memberswere Councilman Jared Patterson, Mayor Pro Tem Bill
Adams, Councilman Cullen King, Councilman Charles Smith, and
Councilwoman Pat McMillan. Pictured at right is the Sachse Chamber
of Commerce team.

The
Park Lake Partners team and Girl Scout Unit 143 worked to beautify their
assigned areas.
City staff prepared and served lunch to
approximately 190 workers who participated in the clean up and
beautification effort. This was a very good turnout for our first
year.

Sachse
citizens joined forces at the Great American Cleanup, a fun, educational, outdoor, springtime activity
brought to you by the City of Sachse, Keep America Beautiful, Inc., the
State of Texas, national, state and local sponsors. Groups gathered
at Heritage Park as Mayor Felix presented an Arbor Day Proclamation, a Great American Cleanup
Proclamation and accepted a Tree City USA banner from Regional Urban
Forester Micah Pace.
Over 188
individuals participated in the cleanup and beautification of 12 sites
across the city. The results are in: over 185 bags (3,700 pounds) of
garbage were collected and over 270 flowers were planted at various
parks and city facilities. Cleanup and beautification teams
included the Wilson Family, the Schubert Family, the Luna Family,
Sachse High School National Honor Society,
Church of Latter Day Saints – Sachse Ward,
Sachse High School Beta Club, First
Baptist Church, Sachse Chamber of Commerce,
Park Lake Partners, Girl Scouts
Unit 143, Sachse High School Softball and Volleyball Teams,
Sachse City Council, Rhiannon
Prisock, and the Sachse Baseball Association.
