Per City of Sachse Code of Ordinances - Chapter 6,
Health & Sanitation, Section 6-7. Weeds, brush and objectionable
vegetation.
- Grass must not be taller than 12 inches.
- No trash or debris allowed in yard.
- Yard must be maintained to street, alley, or right of
ways, including utility easements.
- All fence right-of-ways must be trimmed.
- Grass and weed trimmings shall not be dumped on vacant
lots or other private property.
~ It is unlawful for any person or business owning property, occupied or
unoccupied within Sachse city limits to permit weeds, brush or any
objectionable or unsightly matter to grow to a height greater than 12 inches
upon any such real property within 150 feet of any property line which abuts
streets, alleys and right-of-ways, including drainage and utility easements,
subdivided additions, developed property, or any buildings or structures.
It is the duty of the person or business to keep the subject property and
the area from the line of his/her property to the concrete curb, alley,
easement and right-of-way free and clear of the matter referred to above.
~ In the event that any person or business having control over property,
either occupied or unoccupied, fails to comply with the provisions of
subsections A and B hereof, the fire chief or building official shall give
notice of such violation either personally to the owner in writing; by
letter addressed to the owner at the owner's post office address; or if
personal service cannot be obtained or the owner's post office address is
unknown, by publication at least twice within ten consecutive days; by
posting the notice on or near the front door of each building on the
property to which the violation relates; or by posting the notice on a
placard attached to a stake driven into the ground on the property to which
the violation relates, if the property contains no building.
~ If the owner of the property does not comply with the provisions of the
above within ten days after notice, the city may go onto the property and do
the work or make improvements necessary to correct the violation, and
thereafter pay for the work done or improvements made.
~ If expenses incurred by the city are not reimbursed, the city shall have a
privileged lien against the property to secure payment of such expense,
second only to tax liens and liens for street improvements.
