Winter Averaging

Sachse uses winter averaging for the purpose of calculating sewer charges on your utility bill.  Here’s how it works:  your water consumption for five months (November through March) is averaged after dropping the low and high volumes.  Your average consumption is applied against current sewer rates and this amount becomes your constant sewer charge for 12 months beginning April 1st.  For example, if your average consumption is 6,000 gallons, then your fixed monthly sewer charge will be $25.08.  The maximum (cap) sewer charge for a residential account is $50.00.
