S&P RATING ON CERTIFICATES OF OBLIGATIONS RAISED TO 'AA-' AND 'AA-' (SPUR)

In a statement issued January 26, 2009, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services raised its underlying rating (SPUR) on the city's general obligation debt to 'AA-' from 'A' due to the city's good management practices and strong financial position.  S&P also assigned its standard long-term rating of 'AA-'  to the city's 2009 series General Obligation bonds.  S&P expects that the city's strong reserves, competitive tax rate, and prospects for non-residential development will be able to adequately address its growth-driven operational and capital challenges while maintaining its overall financial position to sustain the rating level.  Click here to read the complete notification from Standard & Poor's.
