Mayor Bickerstaff was first elected to City Council Place 6 in May 2013 and served in that position until he was elected Mayor in May 2022. He serves as the Council Liaison to the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA), North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), and North Central Texas Communications District (NCT9-1-1). Previously, he served on the Sachse Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Board as a Board Member from 2013 to 2019, as the Council Liaison to the EDC from 2019 to 2022, and as the Council Liaison to the Garland Independent School District. Prior to being elected to City Council, he served on the Parks and Recreation Board from 2001 to 2013 and as Chairman from 2005 to 2013. Mr. Bickerstaff also served on the 2006 Bond Committee and the 2013 Charter Review Commission. He has an Associate of Arts and Science Degree in Liberal Arts from Richland Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography from Texas A&M University, and a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Texas A&M University. He and his family have lived in Sachse since 1999.
