COURT COSTS

Municipal Courts are required by state law to collect state court costs.  These court costs are collected upon conviction and are assessed in addition to the fine.  By law, court costs are assessed even when you plead guilty or nolo contendere.

All school zone offenses that qualify for a Defensive Driving Course carry a $93 Defensive Driving Course fee plus $10 for a total of $103.  Please note the difference in fines for speeding, traffic violations, inspection violations, and equipment violations in a school zone.

TIME PAYMENT FEE

On September 1, 1997, Senate Bill 1417 requires a $25 time payment fee to be collected when a person is convicted of a misdemeanor.

RIGHT TO APPEAL

If you are not satisfied with the judgment of the Court, you have the right to appeal your case to County Court.  If you desire to appeal, you must post an appeal bond with the court within 10 calendar days of your conviction.  The appeal bond will not be less than double the amount of the fine and court costs, and in any case, may not be less than $50.
