MAYOR AND COUNCIL ACCEPT TML AWARD FROM
DEPARTMENTS

The Mayor and City Council were presented with the TML
Award that was awarded to city staff at the 2009 TML Conference in
October. (From left to right) Community Development Director Barry
Shelton, Officer Garry Jordan, Police Chief Dennis Veach, Mayor Mike
Felix, and City Manager Allen Barnes officially recognized the award on
behalf of Council. The program, Sachse's Builder Permit Crime
Prevention Packet, was the "brain child" of Office Jordan, who worked
previously in the construction industry. The packets were
developed with builders in mind and are distributed by the Community
Development Department with each building permit issued. It has
slowed and deterred thefts from new home construction sites in Sachse
and shows how several different departments can work together to achieve
a single goal. Great job everyone!!

STRATEGIC
PLANNING FOR THE CITY OF SACHSE 2005 - 2010
The
City Council met on March 18 and 19, 2005, to develop a strategic plan for
Sachse. Priorities were set for the vital issues of broad concern to
the city for the next 3 to 5 years and how the city's resources will be
allocated to address these priorities was discussed. The work
product of this session will assist in making decisions that will support
the priorities and strategies to be accomplished over the next 1 to 3
years. Staff is in the process of assessing on-going work and
projects regarding the top goal areas for Council as the first step in gap
analysis regarding specific goal development. Click
here to see the strategies, goals and visions Council has developed
for the city.
SACHSE'S
FORM OF GOVERNMENT
Sachse operates under the council-manager form of
government. Under this plan, the voters elect a city council which,
in turn, hires a city manager to administer the city's day-to-day
operations.
Sachse city council members serve in places and not
districts, therefore all council members represent the entire city.
If a citizen has a concern, he/she can contact any of the six council
members and/or the mayor.
OUR

appropriate street design reflecting the wishes of the community
while meeting circulation requirements, all located in a desirable
rural environment, far removed from the
pressures of urban development.
