Per City of Sachse Code of Ordinances - Chapter 3, Building Regulations, Section 3-4. National Electrical Code.:

    E.    License required.  A person commits an offense if he or she installs or repairs electrical components in a building (including but not limited to wiring, circuit breakers, and related components), unless such person holds a current license, as issued by a local government which is recognized by the City of Sachse, as follows:

    (1)    A master electrical [license] is required to permit electrical work done in the city.

    (2)    A journeyman license is required for all commercial work, and residential work over 200 ampacity.  A journeyman may not be issued an electrical permit in his own name, such electrical permit can only be issued to a master electrician.

    (3)    A residential specialist license is required for new residential construction, provided that such work is inspected and approved by a journeyman electrical [electrician] prior to inspection by the building official.  A residential specialist may not be issued an electrical permit in his own name; such electrical permit can only be issued to a master electrician.

    (4)    Exception: the owner of a single-family home may install or repair wiring, in his or her home, of not more than three 20-amp circuits (total 60 amps), providing such person first obtains an electrical permit from the city and the work is inspected by the building official.

    F.    Registration required.  A master electrician, journeyman electrician, or residential specialist electrician commits an offense if he or she installs or repairs electrical components in a building (including but not limited to wiring, circuit breakers, and related components), unless such person is registered as such with the city.  An applicant for registration shall prepare and file an application for such, on a form to be provided by the building official.  Upon completion, in proper form, of a registration form, and payment of the required fee, the building official shall issue a registration, which shall be valid for one year from the date of issuance.
 

• Fill out electrical permit application.
• Must present Master Electrician License and Driver's License.
• Fill out Contractor / Information Registration Form if required.
• $100.00 yearly registration for Master Electrician.
• Must conform to 2002 N.E.C.
