The Parks and Recreation Commission acts as an advisory board to the City Council in all matters pertaining to parks and recreation in the City of Sachse.  This Commission studies the park and recreation system of the City and advises Council on issues pertaining to present and future maintenance, operation, planning, acquisition, development, enlargement and use policies of the park system.  The Parks & Recreation Commission has the duty of serving as the Tree Preservation Board for the City of Sachse to govern the protection and preservation of trees within the city, to promote the protection of healthy trees within the city, and to provide regulation of the replacement, replanting, and removal of trees within the city. 

The Commission meets the third Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon at City Hall.  An agenda of their meeting is posted seventy-two (72) hours prior to the meeting.  There are six members appointed by the City Council and each member may serve up to three consecutive two-year terms.

COMPLETES OATH OF OFFICE


Mayor Felix administered the Oath of Office for new Parks and Recreation Commission
member Juanita Miller at the August 18, 2008 City Council meeting.  Ms. Miller will
complete the unexpired term of George Deines.
 

JIM WARD ACCEPTS CERTIFICATION OF APPRECIATION


Former Parks and Recreation Commission member Jim Ward accepted a Certificate of Appreciation from Council liaison Bill Adams at the March 13th Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.  Jim was in his second term on the Commission when he resigned.

COMMISSION MEMBER TAKES OATH OF OFFICE


Jeff Bickerstaff completed the Oath of Office from Mayor Felix at the December 3, 2007 City Council meeting.  Mr. Bickerstaff will serve his fourth two-year term on the Parks and Recreation Commission.
