Qualifications for Appointment

The Sachse Home Rule Charter establishes certain qualifications that must be met by all members of city boards, commissions and committees.  An applicant or member of a City board or commission must be a resident of Sachse.

Selection Process

Anyone wishing to serve, including current members must submit an application during the month of September.

Appointments will be made by the City Council in November for two-year terms.  Terms are staggered whereby one-half of the membership is appointed each year.

It is imperative that members maintain regular attendance at meetings.  Any member who will not be in attendance must notify the chairman of his/her absence prior to the meeting.  Three of five absences, or absences from four consecutive meetings may result in notification to the City Council of the absences.

All applicants will be notified of appointment by mail.  Applicants who were not appointed will be reconsidered as vacancies occur.  Applications will be maintained on file for one year.
