CHANGE IN VOTING PRECINCT FOR SACHSE VOTERS
Dallas County Elections has notified the City of Sachse
of a change in our voting precincts. Voting Precinct 2601 has been
split into two precincts: 2601 (the southern portion of the
original Precinct 2601) and 2602 (the northern portion of the original
Precinct 2601). Generally, Precinct 2602 is a line down Bailey
Road, from the county line to Sachse Road to Miles Road, down Miles Road
to the old Miles Road.

Precinct 2601.

Precinct 2602.
This change will have NO effect on the May city
elections. Everyone will vote at Sachse City Hall, 5560 S.H. 78
for the May city elections.
ALL BOND PROPOSITIONS APPROVED BY VOTERS
All six propositions of the $38 million bond package were
approved by Sachse voters on November 7, 2006. The package consisting
of: street and road improvements; parks and recreation facilities;
city hall facilities; senior center facility; library; and public safety
facility will now begin implementation in phases.
Proposition 1, roadway and transportation improvements to Bunker Hill Road, Dewitt Road
(Ingram to Ranch), Murphy Road (SH 78 to Blackburn), 5th Street (SH 78
to Ingram) and purchase of right-of-way for 5th Street; Proposition 2
includes constructing, improving and equipping parks and
recreational facilities at Salmon Park; Proposition 3 to construct,
acquire and equip a city hall facility; Proposition 4 to construct, furnish and equip improvements to the
senior center facility; Proposition 5 for
construction, furnishing and equipping improvements to the city's
library; and Proposition 6 will include
constructing, improving and equipping a public safety facility for the police and fire departments. Current plans call for
Propositions 3 through 6 to construct a "campus-type" facility at the
corner of Sachse Road and Miles/Bryan (where the current police
department, senior center and library are located). This facility
will house a new city hall, a new public safety facility for police and
fire, improvements to the current library, and renovation of the
existing police department to house a larger senior center. The
existing senior center will remain next to the new city hall. It
has not been determined what will be housed in the current senior
building, but it will not be torn down as previously reported. Greenscape areas within the complex will allow for
outdoor activities and amphitheater-type events. Watch for more
info here on the website, in
The Sachse News, and in special mailings sent to each postal customer.
There will be three bond sales over a five-year period
beginning in April 2007 with additional sales in 2008 and 2010.
According to officials, Phase I will start in May and continue through
December 2008. This phase will involve design work, right-of-way
acquisition and park improvements. Phase II is projected to start
in October 2008 and continue through 2010. It will consist of road
projects, senior center and library improvements and construction of the
public safety facility. Phase III will start in June 2010 and
continue through 2011. Phase III projects will include the city
hall facility and road project completions. Plans indicate that
tax increases of $0.07 will occur within the first two years, followed
by an increase of $0.13 increase in 2010. Property taxes will
increase approximately $0.16, peaking in 2013, then start coming down.
That impact could change with more commercial activities, new businesses
and/or the sale of surplus city land.
