Allen Barnes - City Manager

Mr. Barnes started as Sachse's City Manager on June 1, 2007.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas.  He has served as City Manager in Liberty, Texas and Whitesboro, Texas.  Prior to his career in city management, he was a deputy sheriff in Collin County.  Mr. Barnes is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the city government including over 120 employees and an operating / capital budget of approximately $21 million. 
 



Cheree' Bontrager - Director of Human Resources

Cheree' began working for the City of Sachse as the Human Resources Analyst in 2003 and became the Director of Human Resources in 2007.  She has over eight years of Human Resources experience, having worked for Ericsson, Inc. before coming to Sachse.  Cheree' received her Bachelor's Degree in Business and Human Relations from Amberton University.





Joe Crase - Director of Public Works

Joe started working at the City of Sachse in September 1998 as a Foreman in the Utility Department of Public Works.  He received his State certifications in water and wastewater classifications from Texas A & M.  Prior to working for Sachse, Joe worked for the City of Ennis as a Utility Leadman and the City of Dallas as a Wastewater Leadman.  Joe was promoted to Director of Public Works in June 2002.  





Billy George - City Engineer

Billy George joined the City of Sachse Management Team in May 2008.  He has a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University.  After serving in the Air Force, Billy obtained a Masters of Business Administration from The College of William and Mary.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer and has more than eight years of experience as an Engineer.  Before coming to the City of Sachse, Billy worked as a Sr. Project Manager at Pacheco Koch Consulting Engineers in Dallas.
 




Dolores Greenwald - Director of Library Services

Dolores joined the City of Sachse staff in 2005.  She has been a librarian since 1996 and brings with her experience as an Adult Services Librarian at the Boston Public Library, an Assistant and Acting Branch Manager at the Dallas Public Library and, most recently, as Adult Services Supervisor for the Manske Public Library in Farmers Branch.  Dolores received her Masters of Library Science from Simmons College in Boston and has a Masters of Art in History and a Bachelors of Art in Political Science from the University of Southern Alabama.
 




Doug Kendrick - Fire Chief

Doug has been a member of the Sachse Volunteer Fire Department since 1986. He was elected Fire Chief in 1994 and became the paid Fire Chief when the position became full-time through the City. Previous to his position here in Sachse, Doug worked for the City of Garland Power & Light from 1974 until 1999, when he retired with 25 years of service. He is a licensed electrician, a certified EMT, a fire investigations instructor, certified firefighter, certified fire inspector, certified code enforcement and a certified CPR instructor.  Doug also instructs at the Texas A&M Fire Academy classes during the summer.


 


Robert Lafaye - Emergency Management Coordinator

Robert joined the City of Sachse in August 2008 as the Emergency Management Coordinator.  After serving in the Air Force for 24 years, Robert obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management from the University of North Texas.  Before coming to the City of Sachse, Robert worked as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Rowlett for three years.
 

 


Jeri Rainey - Director of Finance

Jeri Rainey began working as the Finance Director for the City of Sachse in December 2008.  She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.  Prior to Sachse, she was the Finance Director for the City of Groves, Texas for six years and prior to that she worked as the City Auditor for their contract audit firm.  Jeri is a member of the Government Finance Officers' Association (GFOAT) and served as the Region 16 District Director while in Groves.


 


Barry Shelton - Director of Community Development

Barry joined the City of Sachse Management Team in 2007.  Prior to working in Sachse, Barry worked for the City of McKinney in the Planning Department and has more than eight years of experience in Planning.  He received is Bachelor of Science Degree in Planning and Resource Management from Brigham Young University.  
 




Terry Smith - City Secretary

Terry has a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Texas. Prior to hiring on at Sachse, he was City Administrator for the City of Quinlan, Director of Administration and Town Secretary for the Town of Pantego, and City Secretary and Personnel Director for the City of Granbury. Terry began with the City of Sachse in October 1994. He also served as Acting City Manager from July 1998 until March 1999.
 



Dennis Veach - Chief of Police

Mr. Veach started as the Sachse Chief of Police in December 2007.  Prior to Sachse, he served as Chief of Police for the City of Carthage, Missouri since 1998 and served in the Columbia, Missouri Police Department for 22 years.  He retired from Columbia at the rank of Deputy Chief of Police.  Veach holds a Master’s Degree in Administration of Criminal Justice from Central Missouri State University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Truman State University.  He has attended the FBI National Academy and the Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar conducted by the FBI.

 


Lance Whitworth - Director of Parks and Recreation

Lance began working at the City of Sachse in March 2004.  He received an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from East Arizona College, a Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education from Baker University, and a Master's of Science in Sports and Recreation Management from the University of Kansas.  Prior to working for Sachse, Lance spent 5 years as the Parks and Recreation Director in El Dorado, Kansas and over 3 years as the Recreation Supervisor at Shawnee County Parks and Recreation in Topeka, Kansas.  Lance is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional; Certified Pool Operator; and served as a Branch Chair for the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association.
