Water Leak
Information
The City of Sachse allows customers to receive a
leak adjustment in some instances. All leaks area priority;
however, leaks posing a potential threat to health and safety are
handled as emergencies and receive priority response. PLEASE CALL
THE EMERGENCY NUMBER AT 972-495-2271 and speak to dispatch if you are experiencing a water
leak after hours or on weekends.
If you request a leak credit, please provide a
letter to the Utility Billing Department that includes the service
address along with the approximate dates the leak occurred and the
repair bill or receipt of parts purchased. A leak credit will be
applied only after a customer presents proof of a repair or the leak to
the Utility Billing Department.
I have no water.
Whom should I contact?
The usual cause of not having water is non-payment
of your utility bill. Please contact Utility Billing at
972-495-1212, ext. 29 or 30 for payment and reconnection information.
If Utility Billing determines that service was not disconnected for
non-payment or discontinued service, the office will dispatch a crew to
determine the cause of the water delivery problem.
What should I do about a
leak at the meter?
If a leak is on the city's side of a water
connection, city crews will make repairs. If the leak is
determined to be on the customer's side of the connection, the customer
is responsible for making repairs. If a utility bill increases
suddenly and for no apparent reason, it is usually due to a leak in one
of the pipes at the customer's home. Leaks in city-owned water
pipes will not register on the customer's meters.
I have a leak inside my
home. Will the city repair it?
Please do not call us if you have a leak inside
your home. You may cut off the water supply to your home by the
shut-off valve. If there is no cut-off valve or if you need
assistance in turning off the water supply to your house, please call
Utility Billing at 972-495-1212, ext. 29 or 30.
Water is coming out of the
ground. What should I do?
Water coming out of the ground could be caused by a
broken water line or ground water seepage. Please contact Public
Works, Monday thru Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm at 972-495-7600 so that a
crew may be sent to investigate the problem.
Where is my customer
shut-off for the water to my house?
It is usually located near your house in the front
flower beds. You will need to call a professional plumber to
determine the exact location of the shut-off valve; or, if your home is
newly constructed, you may contact your builder to located the shut-off
valve.
Who do I call if I am
experiencing low or high pressure water issues?
Call the Water Department at 972-495-1212, ext. 29
or 30 during normal business hours, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00
pm. If it is after hours, please call the emergency number at
972-495-2271 and speak to dispatch.
What should I do if my
sewer is backing up?
If it is during normal business hours (Monday thru
Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm) immediately contact Public Works at
972-495-7600. If it is after normal business hours, please call
the emergency number 972-495-2271 and speak to dispatch. A sewer
crew will be dispatched to your location.
Can sewer gas enter my
home from the city's sewer lines?
Sewer gas can enter a building when the water
located in a trap in the building evaporates. All fixtures that
are connected to the sewer system must have traps. The water
normally retained in the trap forms a barrier which keeps the gases from
migrating from the sewer lines into the building. If, however, you
feel you detect sewer gas in your building, please call 972-495-7600.
