2007 Certified Taxable Values and
Calculated Tax Rates
The worksheet that the "Click here to view"
browser points to is the legal requirement of the Texas Constitution and
Property Tax Code which embody the concept of truth-in-taxation, which
requires the City to comply with various steps in adopting its tax
rates. The truth-in-taxation laws have two purposes:
>>> To make taxpayers aware of tax rate
proposals; and
>>> To allow taxpayers, in certain cases,
to roll back or limit a tax increase.
