City offices closed Nov. 28 and 29


All City offices and facilities will be closed on Nov. 28 and 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Trash, bulk and brush will not be collected on Thursday, resulting in a one-day collection delay for Thursday and Friday customers only. Collection for Thursday customers will occur on Friday. Collection for Friday customers will occur on Saturday.


Merritt Road public meeting

Written comments on Merritt Road project accepted through Nov. 27


A public meeting for the Merritt Road project was held on Nov. 12 to present the proposed project to the interested public. Information was provided on the project need, purpose, preliminary design and identified environmental constraints. All project materials displayed at the meeting are available for viewing at www.movingmerritt.com. Comments on the project can also be submitted online, through the same website, now through Nov. 27.

Sachse Christmas Extravaganza to be held on Dec. 4 


Join us for the Sachse Christmas Extravaganza on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The event will begin with a Parade of Lights starting at Sachse High School, 3901 Miles Road, and ending at City Hall, 3815 Sachse Road, Building B. The fun will continue with a Christmas tree lighting at 7 p.m. in front of City Hall, followed by visits with Santa, crafts, cookie decorating, train rides, a petting zoo, crafts and a Winter Wonderland Surprise. Lighting contest

Enter the Sachse Holiday Lighting Contest now through Dec. 6


Register now through Friday, Dec. 6, to enter the annual Sachse Holiday Lighting Contest, sponsored by Oncor Electric Delivery. Categories include Single Family Small Lot, Single Family Large Lot, and Street. Judging will take place on Sunday, Dec. 15, as soon as it becomes dark. Visit www.cityofsachse.com/HolidayContest for contest information, including new prizes and registration.

The 16th annual Sachse High School Turkey Trot will be held on Nov. 28


Join supporters of Sachse High School (SHS) by participating in the 16th annual SHS Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, at Sachse High School, 3901 Miles Road. Doors open at 7 a.m. for walk-up registration and packet pick up. The 1-mile Fun Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m., while the 5K Run/Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. Pre-register now through Nov. 27 for $30 per person; or do walk-up registration on Nov. 28 for $35 per person. Meet "Pet of the Week" Miss B


Meet Miss B, our "Pet of the Week." Miss B is approximately 10 weeks old and she is adorable. She was found in a shopping cart at a local grocery store, but these days, she can be found lounging in her hammock at the Sachse Animal Shelter, 6436 Sachse Road. Come see her, Monday - Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., or call 972-675-9662.
