Sachse Fire-Rescue Deployed To Coast In Response to Tropical Storm Marco and Hurricane LauraThe Texas Emergency Medical Task Force (EMTF) rostered ten ambulance strike teams, three ambulance buses and an ambulance staging management team in preparation for Tropical Storm Marco and Hurricane Laura. Sachse Fire-Rescue answered the call to support our neighbors on the coast.
On Sunday, August 23 and Monday, August 24, Sachse Fire-Rescue (SFR) deployed personnel to assist in the effort: - Coach Bus Medic: Firefighter David Traynham deployed as a Coach Bus Medic. The bus shuttled evacuating crowds out of harm's way.
- Ambulance 2: A2 is part of the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council's Emergency Medical Taskforce 2 (EMTF-2) Ambulance Strike Team (AST) unit. Staffed by Firefighter Billy Martin and Firefighter Francis Miller, they deployed on Sunday, August 23. Prior to the hurricane, they helped evacuate nursing homes around Beaumont.
The Texas EMTF is a series of scalable disaster components capable of activating resources on behalf of Texas. The Texas EMTF is the response system developed by Regional Advisory Councils, the Department of State Health Services and local EMS and Hospital stakeholders to fulfill the need for short notice, emergency health care during a disaster or significant incident. The program was developed in 2009, focusing on lessons learned from the catastrophic 2008 Hurricane Season in Texas, as well as Hurricanes Katrina/Rita and the events of 9/11/2001.

Eagle Scout Project: City Signage RestorationIn just one short week, several of the City's gateway signs and park entry signs received a facelift from aspiring Eagle Scout Alex Carroll.
To work on the two gateway signs on SH 78, Alex removed them during the 4th of July weekend. He restored them during the week so they could be replaced on Sunday, July 12. He also restored the gateway sign on Miles Road. The elevation of the sign made removal trickier, so he did the work with it in place. The wider median and lighter traffic ensured his safety.
In addition to the gateway signs, Alex also refurbished the park signs at Heritage Park, Sanford Park and Stone Park.

Coming Soon!Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers and is traditionally observed on the first Monday in September. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894.
Trash and recycling services change slightly due to the holiday. Sachse services slide over one day. If your trash and recycling collection is normally on Monday, then it slides over to Tuesday, and so on.

Team Up to Fight HungerTeam Up to Fight Hunger is a collaboration of Sachse, Wylie, Murphy and area community partners to provide food to people and families in need while supporting local restaurants. Families receive vouchers after completing a screening process with participating area food banks. Families can then take the vouchers to participating local restaurants, who have curated special menus for the families to choose from when ordering their meals. Each voucher is valued at $40 and provides a meal for a family of four. Families can go online at www.TeamUptoFightHunger.com/vouchers for the latest update about participating restaurants in the area and to check what each restaurant is serving for its customized meal. “The City of Sachse and the Sachse EDC proudly support the Team Up to Fight Hunger program by providing help for local businesses impacted by COVID-19,” said the Director of Sachse Economic Development Corporation Leslyn Blake.
