New Manager of Library Services to begin on Feb. 12
SACHSE (January 31, 2018) The City of Sachse has tapped Daniel Laney, a highly experienced and exceptional individual, to serve as the new Manager of Library Services. Laney will begin his post on Monday, Feb. 12.
“Our library is a gem in the community,” says City Manager Gina Nash. “Daniel brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Sachse and we are delighted to have him join our team. I know that he will serve our residents well.”
Laney began his public service career with the City of Mesquite in 2010 as an Assistant Librarian. During his seven-year tenure, he served in a variety of additional roles including promotions to Adult Services Librarian and Library Services Supervisor. While in Mesquite, Laney was heavily involved with special community events, educational programs, collection development, and the recruitment of library volunteers.
Laney is anxious to begin the next chapter of his career. “I am very excited for this opportunity to serve the residents of Sachse as the new Manager of Library Services,” he said. “Sachse is a community that values lifelong learning, and it is my goal to find new and innovative ways for the Sachse Public Library to enrich the lives of its residents. I look forward to working with the Library's talented staff and the Library Board as we continue to provide residents with outstanding library programs and services.”
Prior to his service to Mesquite, Laney earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Ouachita Baptist College in 2009. He later earned a Master of Arts in Library Sciences from Texas Women’s University in 2014.
Laney will be welcomed with a brief reception before the Library Board’s regularly-scheduled meeting at the conclusion of his first day. The reception will be held at the Sachse Public Library, 3815 Sachse Road, on February 12 at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.
